How to avoid drink driving and still enjoy Harmony Row
Here is how (and why) to get to Harmony Row without driving.
We get a lot of people saying the vineyard is too far away and that Victoria’s tough drink driving laws & booze bus blitzes mean you can’t just relax and have a few wines when you know you have to drive home. But it’s too difficult to get there any other way. True or False? False! And I should know. I have a confession to make. I take the train myself now. Have done for the last few concerts. It’s so easy I intend to continue doing it. That way I can relax too.
You can relax, have a few glasses of wine, and not risk driving

It’s easy. You can book a return ticket to Kyneton from Southern Cross by phone 136196 or buy one on the day. Cost is only $8.10 each way (off peak!) You can taxi, train or tram from home or your local station to Southern Cross, then catch the Bendigo Line train to Kyneton. From Kyneton a taxi or minibus will take you to the Vineyard!!

We will book the taxi for you!
If you tell us you are coming up on the train when you book, we will book a taxi or minibus from Kyneton to take you to us. You will need to give us your mobile number so we can confirm you have made the train OK.

VLine sells tickets from the windows near corner Collins & Spencer. The 10:35am gets you to Kyneton at 11:41am. Perfect timing for the cab or bus to get you to us around 12:00 noon. There is an earlier service at 9:15am and one at 12:15pm if you are only coming for the show. Coffee HQ sells great coffee near the ticket windows and you can get good food there too to take with you on the trip. You should be lined up at the windows at least 20 minutes before departure time. But I have done it on a finer timing. The platform is within about 100 metres of the ticket window.
Cost? Train is $16.10 return (off peak) !!!! Incredibly cheap!! Taxi is approx $28 total. Minibus is approx $42 total (like any taxi service can be a little more or less depending on traffic). Taxi cost can be shared with up to four people. Minibus can be shared by up to 10 people. So we can’t give you exact pricing. 4 people would be $7 each way for a cab. Say 10 would be $4.20 each way for a bus.
Organize a Group. It’s more fun that way!!
Same train also picks up at Footscray & Watergardens if you live out that way!!
A car will suck up around $22 in petrol alone and that does not account for wear & tear and driving risk, or Citylink Road Tolls. Four people can make the journey from Southern Cross & back for $30 each. And you can read books, listen to music, talk on the mobile, play with your laptop or Game Boy. Read the paper. Do the Crossword. Cuddle up to your companion & sleep together!! You name it. A car is so limiting.
Minimum Effort. Maximum Safety!!
