An evening with Wendy Rule is not one you would forget in a hurry. An iconic Melbourne musician in a very definite niche. Visit any esoteric shop where fantasy, witchcraft and beautiful gothic themes create an atmosphere of a full moon and a fairy castle, and you will most likely find Wendy Rule’s music. Wendy herself says:

I was born in Sydney, Australia, but have spent nearly all my life in Melbourne (which is a very cool city!). I’m a Scorpio musical Witch and mother of Reuben.

Since childhood I have been a singer of songs. Walking in Nature and finding the wild places along train lines and my own rambling back yard, strange melodies have found their way to me like gifts from the realm of fairy. I would spend hours drawing and painting the microcosm of plants and flowers around my home, singing myself into an Otherworldly trance. Not till late high school did this love of singing become public. After a couple of performances in school musicals I felt I had discovered my life passion and purpose. To sing! I then took private lessons in classical singing for about five years, finishing when I was about 20 to explore the world of jazz.

Wendy Rule has firmly established herself as one of Australia’s most uniquely gifted and prolific artists. Her music is a passionate union of her incredible voice – moving from soaring heights to intimate whispers – and her beautifully dark and visionary lyrics. Wendy’s live performances draw on her love of ritual and theatre, enticing her audience into an otherworldy realm of power and Magic. After years of local shows and national tours, Wendy’s music is now being recognised internationally. She has recently returned from her 9th tour of the USA, and has also performed in France, Germany, England and Scotland. She heads off on another US tour after this gig in May.

Alongside her five full length studio albums,Wendy has recenly released a meditation album - Meditations on the 4 Elements. Her other releases include a live album of jazz standards and a collaborative album with Californian artist Gary Stadler. She has toured and performed extensively within Australia and internationally.
